Top Considerations When Hiring Male Voice Over Talents

By Claudine Hodges

An ad or documentary film will not be that effective without a great voice behind it. Voice plays a vital role in the overall delivery and impact of the message. Unless it is fitted for the video, the expected response may not be that favorable.

This is the reason why companies hire specific personalities to handle some of their promotional materials. Top quality male voice over talents have what it takes to deliver the desired message the producer wants for the ad. If you search online, more and more sites are offering samples of them for companies to choose from.

But just like any other industries, talents also have their own differences. Not everyone have the same quality of voice. Some are deliver spiels in high pitch while others do it low. The choice is yours and your decision involves many consideration. Take a quick peek below.

Tone of your message. Every ad concept has a tone. It could be a lively one just like the typical kids party ad or a more serious one like a medical advisory. It is important the you identify the tone of your message so that you will know the type of voice you want to get. Identifying the message matters a lot in identifying the pitch that is appropriate for it.

Two, look at the experience of the talent. His past projects will speak clearly of his ability. The more experience he has then most likely, the better his performance is. While this is not a general requirement it will help you later on when you have more than three choices on your end. If you think they are all good, then perhaps going for the veteran one is a wise move.

Third, look at the price. Pricing is dependent to several factors. It could be the length of the project or the variety of tone you will need him to perform. The best way to know whether or not the talent is offering you a fair price is to compare it with others. Visit other websites and compare the pricing. Do not forget to listen to the quality of the voices as well. A too good to be true price may not be true.

Fourth, consider the versatility. This refers to the ability of the talent to flex his voice as the message demands. Someone who is really good can easily change tone and convey emotions. If you do not require any flexing on your project however, you may do away with this. Still, it is a bonus if you get to hear the extent of what your choice is capable of. You may have succeeding projects that require another tone.

Enthusiasm of the talent. You will know when a voice actor has real interest on the job by the amount of enthusiasm he shows during the initial selection and even on your interview. Depending on the type of project you want to have, you may have to make him work for hours. He should have the energy and stamina to withstand long hours of work.

As long as you have a clear outlook on what your film, documentary or ad is all about, trimming down the selection will be easier. Take time to search online and listen to each samples. Getting the best deserves some effort.
